An excellent way to make friends and meet with the ex pat community in Buenos Aires is to join The Buenos Aires Hash House Harriers which is a drinking club with a running problem, they meet every second Sunday always in different parts of city.

There are always 2 trails marked in flour one for machos is about 10km and the other is for wimps and walkers usually about 6km, refreshments (beer) are served on the run and afterwards there is more beer and food all for only 10 pesos $3us, £2 or less than 3 euros, there are many other social events connected with the Hash.

Argentines are sports crazy in the true meaning of the word, in the built up capital you will see gymnasiums practically every block, add to that there love of tennis, golf, volleyball, hockey (The Lions), polo, rugby (The Pumas), basketball and the numerous sailing clubs you will start to get the picture.

But the biggest passion of all football and every man, woman and child seems to have a team that they would pledge their undying allegiance to. The main Buenos Aires clubs are River Plate, Boca Juniors and Racing Club though there are many more. Getting tickets through touts at the grounds is usually easy enough except for the superclasico of River v Boca where the prices go through the roof and the atmosphere is not for the fainthearted.
